The only way to really help someone with their money is to take the time and get to know them. I have been in the financial services industry since 1976, and I have learned the value of asking intelligent questions and then being a good listener.
I entered the financial services industry right out of college. I sometimes jokingly say I chose this line of work because I needed to make money. But there’s more to it than that.
My father passed away when I was nine. Instead of leaving my mother and my three siblings struggling to make ends meet, we were fortunate. My dad had the foresight to take out a permanent life insurance policy—the only reason he did so was so that his family would be provided for in case something happened to him. Well that “worst case” came to pass, but my mother was provided for, and I and my two siblings were able to go to college.
I knew that what insurance promised wasn’t just some “pie in the sky.” It really could help people. So what started out on something of a whim turned into a lifetime of helping others find financial security.
I have lived my entire life in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. I have been blessed to grow up in a good environment with lots of support, and I want to help my community continue to be a good place to raise our children and grand children.
Because I believe in my community, I work to find ways to give back. I have been the head coach Calvary Christian 7th grade basketball team called, “The Lakers.” I grew up playing basketball. I played in high school and in the adult leagues. I coached my two children, and I have continued even now that my kids are married with children of their own. I love it!
Doing what I do has given me the wherewithal to be able to coach. It takes time, but it’s well worth it.
I like seeing the kids develop, improve their game, and even improve their life skills. I take the time to have them discuss their goals in life. They are encouraged to discover why being part of the team is important and be outspoken about what they have to offer the team.
I want to find out what my clients and prospects want out of life.
I love the interaction, finding common interests, and learning about what others consider important. I am proud to say that many of my clients have become my good friends.
